Timber Frames
Architects, contractors, and self-builders like you are choosing Tŷ Eco timber frames as a fast, economical and sustainable alternative to other traditional construction methods.
Even large Developers are now predominantly building new homes in timber frame for their superior thermal efficiency, as Building Regulations become more stringent and the price of energy continues to increase.
Tŷ Eco design & manufacture traditional (Open Panel) timber frame, as well as our specialisation – timber frame, pre-insulated panels for highly efficient, Low Energy ‘Passive Houses’.
What Are Timber Frames?
Timber frames are structural frameworks for buildings; suitable for everything from extensions, bungalows & houses all the way up to residential and commercial buildings (up to 18m in height). Constructed primarily from timber stud, joists and beams, they provide the structure of a building including the roofs, floors, and internal & external walls.
Timber Frame construction has been used for thousands of years, many of the oldest buildings that are still in use today are made using traditional timber frame methods.
Tŷ Eco have employed the principles of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to produce a panelised, timber frame building system that will take your site from slab (or foundation) level to a structure that is pre-insulated, weather resistant, air tight and secure within a matter of days or weeks (depending on the size of the building) . . . compared to weeks, months or even years in traditional brick & block.
