Our Story
Tŷ Eco MMC is the latest addition to a long-standing family of construction and property businesses rooted in and around Wrexham. Our journey began in 1948 with two brothers, H.R. and E. Roberts, who built homes for the Council as part of the nation’s post-war rebuilding efforts.
In 1977, Eric Roberts, the younger brother, established Minera Roof Trusses, becoming one of the first companies in the UK to use modern manufacturing techniques to prefabricate roof trusses and joists.
Fast forward to 2018, after completing an apartment building in central Wrexham, we recognized that traditional building methods were struggling to keep pace with the increasing demands of modern Building Regulations. As standards continued to rise, it became clear that even more rigorous requirements were on the horizon.
Then, in 2022, with energy prices soaring, we saw tenants of our properties face increasing difficulties with their bills, despite living in homes that met the latest regulations. It was evident that a better approach to construction was needed—one that wasn’t just faster or more economical but built to a higher, more sustainable standard.
After six years of research and development, we created the solution: Tŷ Eco’s ‘Adra PØ’ Panelised Timber Frame Building System. This innovative Passive House system is designed to help the construction industry build faster, better, and more energy-efficient homes.
Although Tŷ Eco was officially launched in 2024, we bring over 75 years of experience and expertise in construction to this exciting new chapter
Building our History
H.R. & E. Roberts
After serving as a bricklayer before the war, Eric Roberts left the army and partnered with his brother Raymond. Together, they began building houses in the Wrexham area as part of the UK’s post-war reconstruction effort, establishing the foundation for what would grow into a successful family construction business.
Bryn Property Company
Set-up to provide ‘Quality Housing for the Working Man & his Family for Sale & Rent’. Bryn Property continues to do so to this day, under the banner of WREXRENT.
Eric Robert Builders
After two decades of working together, Eric decided to part ways with his brother Raymond and founded Eric Roberts (Builders) Limited, a company focused on handling Council contract works. This move allowed him to concentrate on growing the business independently and expanding its role in the construction sector
Minera Roof Trusses
Following a trip to America, Eric was intrigued by their use of manufacturing to pre-fabricate elements of a house. Before long, (encouraged by his entrepreneurial daughters, Dawn & Eve!) he had imported – what was then – cutting edge technology to manufacture pre-fabricated Roof Trusses & Joists here in Minera, ‘Just like the Americans do it!’. Minera were one of the very first companies in the country to do it; whilst it didn’t catch-on at first (the traditionalists didn’t like it), Eric employed the process extensively through his own building company

Building on our rich heritage of innovation, Minera Roof Trusses has launched its sister company to manufacture Timber Frame, allowing us to now offer a complete, bespoke structural package tailored to your needs. While Timber Frame construction has been around for millennia, our approach to engineering and manufacturing it is at the forefront of modern technology. Following Eric Roberts' pioneering spirit, we’ve sought out the most advanced construction methods from around the world and invested in cutting-edge machinery to deliver better, faster, and more sustainable solutions.
